The Lifestyle: EC Life

Your world. Jesus’ way.

What’s an evangelical Catholic life?

At the EC we’re evangelical Catholics not because we’re anything other than Roman Catholics. We’re evangelical because we’ve experienced the good news (evangelion) of Jesus, and it’s changed our lives in all the best ways possible.

It fuels our mission to help Catholics (and everyone else) discover the good news and good life Jesus offers, and we’re honored that you’re here to do the same.

An EC Life is marked by a commitment to three essential aspects of life with God: prayer, community, and mission. We use the image of a tree to represent the abundant life and ongoing growth we have in Jesus.

As a plant draws nourishment for life through roots that reach deep into the soil, so do our souls feed on the divine life that flows into us through prayer.

In close Christian community we draw energy and nourishment by intertwining our lives with other believers who support us and encourage us to keep going.

If we sink our roots down into him, God leads us to bear fruit in mission. We can be intentional about loving others as Jesus would have us love them, including helping others grow in their relationship with him.

Accompany a Few

Prayerfully discern your mission to guide and accompany others closer to Christ.

Follow Jesus Together

Meet regularly with a small number of other disciples for intentional Christian community.

Pray Daily and Deeply

Abide in Jesus through silence and solitude, Scripture, and sacraments.

Carve out space for what’s most important.

You want to live a fulfilling life with Jesus and feel confident about sharing your faith with others, but amid the pressures of life, it can be hard to do this. Followers of Jesus have long used a rule of life to help them stay rooted in God and fruitful in mission.

Broadly speaking, a rule of life is a set of rhythms and practices an individual or community chooses to live out in order to make space for their highest priorities, values, relationships, and callings. Disciples of Jesus have long used the concept of a rule of life to build sustaining rhythms that keep them growing and flourishing as missionary disciples.

Your guide to an extraordinary (everyday) Catholic life.

Are your best intentions getting lost in the shuffle of modern life? We get it. Our Rule of Life guides you to craft rhythms of prayer, community, and mission that keep you on track as you grow in the Lord. Find your path to a lifetime of joyful missionary discipleship.

Draw close to Jesus in prayer.

As a plant draws nourishment for life through roots that reach deep into the soil, so do our souls feed on the divine life that flows into us through prayer.

Prayer is communication and intimacy with God, who loves us. It includes any kind of prayer you could think of: memorized prayers, spur-of-the-moment prayers, prayer with Scripture, prayer with others, prayer for others, prayer at Mass, in Adoration, even the wordless prayer of silence.

Follow Jesus together in community.

In close Christian community we draw energy and nourishment by intertwining our lives with other believers who support us and encourage us to keep going.

Community is where we truly get to know ourselves and one another in the Lord. Groups gather in the name of Jesus to pray, discuss life, grow together, and support one another in mission.

EC Life Groups and other small groups can help you and a group of friends grow and support one another to live a joyful and strong life of discipleship.

Accompany a few closer to Jesus through mission.

At the Evangelical Catholic we not only teach others how to be missionary disciples, we live it ourselves. We couldn’t be more honored to share what we’ve learned about knowing and following Jesus with you.

Every member of our team loves Jesus and seeks to make him known in the world. We are a joyful, prayerful, enthusiastic bunch!

We stay true to our mission by following five core values: zeal, excellence, fun, candor, and “all things to all people.”

Live like Jesus every day.

With engaging discussions, daily prayer guides, and weekly discipleship challenges, our books and discussion guides help you take your faith from theory into practice.
